Object: Spontaneus application.

My name’s Marilena Rende and I get a master’s degree in Biomolecular and Cellular Biology with a mark of 110/110 cum laude. During the period of my master’s thesis I worked on the characterization of PHO regulon in the Amycolatopsis balhimycina, a microorganism producer of antibiotics.
In particular, I carried out the gene cloning of entire phoP gene and DNA- binding domain of phoP of Amycolatopsis balhimycina and Streptomycetes coelicolor. PhoP is a transcriptional factor that regulates the metabolism of phosphate in various microorganismes. Then I expressed corresponding recombinant proteins and at the least I appraised their capacity to bind DNA by electrophoretic mobility essay.
For now I’m attending an English course to obtain PET certificate.
I’m interested to scientific carrier, so I send my CV hoping it can be in real account.

Yours sincerely,
Marilena Rende.

Curriculum vitae et studiorum of Marilena Rende.

She enrolled in 2003 to the undergraduate course (three years program, final degree: laurea triennale) in Biological Sciences at the University of Palermo. After having completed regulary her studies, she graduated on the 2007 with full marks and honours (110/110 e lode) with a final dissertation entitled “Flow cytometric techniques applied to the study of apoptosis”, after about six months of stage with Prof. Giuseppe Calvaruso in Biochemical Sciences laboratory.

She enrolled in 2007 to the post-graduate course (two years program, final degree: laurea specialistica) in Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Palermo, preparing an experimental thesis in Prof.ssa Anna Maria Puglia’s laboratory and graduating on the February 2010 with full marks and honours (110/110 e lode) with a final dissertation entitled “Characterization of Pho regulon in Amycolatopsis balhimycina”.

Working and Professional Experiences:

From November 2008 to February 2010 she worked in Prof. Anna Maria Puglia laboratory at University of Palermo where she learned several techniques:
• PCR
• DNA cloning, plasmids extraction, Genomic DNA extraction
• Microbiological manipulation (bacteria cultures in liquid and soil media) and bacterial trasformation
• Induction procedure for the expression of recombinant proteins
• SDS PAGE and Western blotting
• EMSA.

She has got bionformatic knowledges (Blast, Neb cutter, Expasy, primer3) and informatics (competent with most office softwares and internet explorer).
Moreover during the stage in Biochemical Science laboratory she learned some flow cytometric techniques used to study apoptosis.
Her referees are Prof. ssa Anna Maria Puglia (ampuglia@unipa.it) and Dott. Giuseppe Gallo (giumir@msn.com), Dipartimento di Biologia cellulare e dello Sviluppo, University of Palermo.
