Postdoctoral Research Fellow- Angiogenesis, Tumor Microenvironment
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral fellow to join the group headed by Dr Adriana Albini at the IRCCS MultiMedica Milano (Italy), Laboratory of Translational Oncology.
Host Institution IRCCS MultiMedica Research Hospital is a Specialized Centre for the Cure and Research, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Health; it is part of MultiMedica Group with over 30 years' experience in healthcare. MultiMedica works on translational research, an activity designed to rapidly transfer results from the laboratory to the bedside. The thematic areas subject of our research include heart failure, stem cells in cardiovascular (CV) diseases and cancer, diabetes and dismetabolic diseases, genetics of complex disorders, proteomics and bioinformatics applied to CV diseases and cancer.
Job description Dr Adriana Albini’s group has an extensive experience in tumor microenvironment and tumor angiogenesis research. In her lab, several in vitro and in vivo experimental procedures have been developed in order to investigate diverse aspects of the angiogenesis process, including endothelial chemotaxis and chemoinvasion assays, cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, morphogenesis into capillary-like structures, matrigel sponge angiogenesis and tumor growth assays in vivo. The main goals are to elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in angiogenesis and inflammation and the crosstalk with tumor cells, to investigate the use of chemopreventive approaches targeting the vascular or inflammatory system and employment of nanotechnologies in vascular targeting in order to develop more efficient anti-cancer/ anti-angiogenic targeted therapies and prevention approaches.
Requirements We are looking for highly motivated individuals to lead projects and develop new experimental approaches. Applicants should hold a PhD or at least two documented years of research experience after graduation. The applicant must have a solid background in experimental research, particularly in molecular and cellular biology and a strong interest in molecular medicine and cancer target validation approaches. Experience in animal models and animal handling, flow cytometry and cell sorting is strongly preferred but not mandatory. A good command of English (written and oral skills) are required and experience in writing papers, reports and grant proposals will be appreciated. Candidates need to be highly organized and focused and be able to co-operate with other members in the research team. Excellent communication skills are required.
Contacts Interested candidates are invited to send a detailed CV and a one-page statement of research interest to: adriana.albini@multimedica.it and in cc to: alessandra.panvinirosati@multimedica.it
