Salve a tutti.
MKRS: chromosome containing multiple pericentromeric inversions which suppress crossing over in the proximal regions of both arms of the third chromosome. This chromosome contains the allele Stubble (Sb) which is lethal when present in homozygosis whereas it determinates the presence of bristles less than one-half normal length and thicker than wild type when in heterozygosis.
TM6: chromosome containing multiple inversions which prevent the recombination on the third chromosome. It is lethal in homozygosis because of the presence of the allele Ultrabithorax (Ubx). Ultrabithorax is a region included in the bithorax complex (BXC), a gene cluster that functions to assign unique identities to body segment in the abdomen and posterior thorax. Homozygotes for this allele die usually as tiny third-instar larvae. TM6 also contains the dominant allele Tubby (Tb), which causes larvae, pupae and adults to be shorter and thicker than wild type.
